Why did we create RedPill Generic?

At RedPill, more than anywhere else, we appreciate that every athlete is an individual, and always strive for the optimal coaching for each individual for their personal situation and goals. However, we recognise that as a small team, we only have so many hours in the week between us to work with individuals, and that there was still a lot of room for improvement in the world of CrossFit generic programming. It started as a thought exercise to distill down what exactly is required for someone where typical class programming wasn’t enough, and how to most effectively “catch all” of the common gaps in a CrossFitter’s game in just 90 minutes of training, 6 days a week, and slowly evolved into “how can we make the best generic CrossFit programme on the market?".

Within the RedPill team, we have a huge amount of experience from coaching CrossFit Games champions all the way down to people who have never exercised in their lives, and the broad spectrum of athlete you see at a typical box. RPG draws on all this knowledge and experience to apply tried and tested principles and techniques to level up all attributes of a competitive CrossFitter, in a structured manner that ensure all areas are covered, and none are over-worked or neglected.

How did we write the RPG?

The RPG is periodised and balanced on an annual basis, peaking for the CrossFit Open in February. However, it is also periodised and balanced within a month and a week, where the body is being exposed to all the stimuli that CrossFit may challenge, be it a movement, time domain, or intensity, all in a systematic fashion.

What does this mean for the athletes following the programme? It means the weaknesses in our CrossFit game will get worked the hardest, our strengths will continue to get stronger, and the programme will constantly feel fresh and challenging. We’ve also integrated the movement mechanics work that we’re famous for, to make the body resilient against common CrossFit injuries, and improve movement quality, which means better efficiency, more kilos on the bar and faster times.

We’re very proud of what we’ve created, and the feedback from athletes in the first couple of months has been incredible.
